ABOUT ATUZA
Background
ATUZA, founded by Atuza Nkurlu, is a Tanzanian shoe brand that emerged from the streets of Dar es salaam . The brand was established in March 2020, with humble beginnings in a small master bedroom in Kinondoni. Atuza’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2017, selling second-hand shoes obtained from Karume market in Dar es salaam and occasionally at Gikomba Market in Nairobi, Kenya. This experience inspired him to create his own shoe brand to meet the demand for high-quality and timeless men’s shoes in Tanzania. The name ATUZA stems from the Swahili word “ouzo” meaning gift, as Atuza him-self was named by his late father, being born on Thanksgiving Day. ATUZA shoes aspires to manufacture locally, expand its presence across Africa and the world, and establish itself as a leading African shoe brand.
